Η Δέσπω Μηναΐδου είναι εγγεγραμμένη Λογοπαθολόγος από τη Λευκωσία.
Τον Μάιο 1986 απόκτησε πτυχίο με τίτλο Bachelor of Science in «Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped», από το Long Island University- C.W. Post Campus στη Νέα Υόρκη, ΗΠΑ.
Ακολούθως μετέβηκε στο The Pennsylvania State University, ΗΠΑ για μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές με μερική υποτροφία από το C.A.S.P. (Cyprus American Scholarship Program) του Fulbright, από όπου το 1988 απόκτησε το Master of Science in Communication Disorders.
Από τον Ιούνιο 1988 μέχρι και τον Μάιο 1989 εργάστηκε στην Βαλτιμόρη της Πολιτείας Maryland σε θέση επί σύμβαση σαν Ειδικευόμενος Λογοπαθολόγος, στις πτέρυγες κρανιοεγκεφαλικών κακώσεων και εγκεφαλικών επεισοδίων του Montebello Rehabilitation Hospital το οποίο είναι μέρος του University of Maryland Medical Systems.
Από τον Ιούνιο 1989 είναι κάτοχος του Certificate of Clinical Competence από τον Αμερικάνικο Οργανισμό Λογοπαθολόγων –Ακοολόγων(ASHA) και από τον Σεπτέμβριο 2005 είναι κάτοχος του Πιστοποιητικού Εγγραφής Λογοπαθολόγου από το Συμβούλιο Εγγραφής Λογοπαθολόγων Κύπρου.
Στις αρχές του 1990, έγινε μέλος του Συνδέσμου Λογοθεραπευτών Κύπρου και από τότε μέχρι τον Ιούλιο 2013 διατηρούσε ιδιωτικό γραφείο στη Λευκωσία στο οποίο παρακολουθούσε ενήλικες και παιδιά με διαταραχές λόγου, ομιλίας, επικοινωνίας και σίτισης/δυσφαγίας. Έχει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον σε παιδιά με νευρολογικές διαταραχές, διάχυτη αναπτυξιακή διαταραχή, σφαιρική αναπτυξιακή διαταραχή, παιδιά με προβλήματα σίτισης και κατάποσης και με ενήλικες οι οποίοι παρουσιάζουν γνωστικές/ γλωσσολογικές διαταραχές.
Από τον Αύγουστο 2013 έχει εργοδοτηθεί στο Πρόγραμμα Λογοθεραπείας του Τμήματος Επιστημών Αποκατάστασης της Σχολής Επιστημών Υγείας του ΤΕΠΑΚ στη θέση Ειδικού Εκπαιδευτικού Προσωπικού.
Είναι ενεργό μέλος του Συλλόγου Εγγεγραμμένων Λογοπαθολόγων Κύπρου (ΣΕΛΚ) του οποίου διετέλεσε πρόεδρος για δύο θητείες και υπηρέτησε από διάφορες θέσεις όπως γραμματέας ΔΣ, μέλος της ομάδας επιμόρφωσης και μέλος της ομάδας για τη νομοθεσία. Από το 2007-2013 ήταν εκπρόσωπος του ΣΕΛΚ στην CPLOL (Μόνιμη Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή των Συνδέσμων Λογοθεραπευτών των Χωρών της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης).
Διετέλεσε μέλος του Συμβουλίου Εγγραφής Λογοπαθολόγων για δύο θητείες και ήταν μέλος της 1ης Συμβουλευτικής Επιτροπής σύμφωνα με τη νομοθεσία 117/89 περί Προστασίας Νοητικά Καθυστερημένων Ατόμων διορισμένη από το Υπουργικό Συμβούλιο.
Είναι ενεργό μέλος της Επιστημονικής Επιτροπής για τη διοργάνωση του Παγκύπριου Συνεδρίου για Γονείς σαν εκπρόσωπος του ΣΕΛΚ, μέλος του Παγκύπριου Συνδέσμου για τη Δυσλεξία, μέλος του Συνδέσμου συγγενών και φίλων ατόμων με αυτισμό «Μαζί» και εγγεγραμμένο μέλος του Αμερικανικού Οργανισμού Λογοπαθολόγων-Ακοολόγων (ASHA). Είναι επίσης μέλος των ομάδων ειδικού ενδιαφέροντος της ΑSHA για θέματα Διοίκησης και Εποπτείας (SIG #11) και για θέματα Δυσφαγίας (SIG#13).

Η Μαρίνα είναι Λογοθεραπεύτρια, με εξειδίκευση στην αποκατάσταση των επίκτητων διαταραχών επικοινωνίας, εργάζεται ως Ειδικό Εκπαιδευτικό Προσωπικό στο Τμήμα Επιστημών Αποκατάστασης του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου Κύπρου και είναι η Συντονίστρια της Κλινικής Ενηλίκων. Κατέχει διδακτορικό τίτλο στις Ιατρικές Επιστήμες από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου του Fribourg, Ελβετία. Η Μαρίνα έχει εκπαιδευτεί στην Προχωρημένη Δυσφαγία Ενηλίκων στο University College του Λονδίνου (UCL) και στην Ενδοσκοπική Οισοφαγική Κατάποση με Οπτικές Ίνες (FEES) στην Ιατρική Σχολή της Βοστώνης, στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Βοστώνης των Ηνωμένων Πολιτειών της Αμερικής. Είναι η ιδρύτρια του Κυπριακού Συνδέσμου Εγκεφαλικών Επεισοδίων (Cyprus Stroke Association), Γραμματέας της Συμμαχίας Εγκεφαλικών Επεισοδίων για την Ευρώπη (SAFE) και Μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της Διεθνούς Ένωσης για την Αφασία (ΑΙΑ). Είναι περήφανη απόφοιτος του «Future Stroke Leaders Program Cohort1» του Παγκόσμιου Οργανισμού Εγκεφαλικού Επεισοδίου (WSO), μέλος της Ομάδας Εργασίας για την Εφαρμογή της Νευροαποκατάστασης και της Επιτροπής για την Παγκόσμια Εκστρατεία του Εγκεφαλικού Επεισοδίου του WSO. Η Μαρίνα συμμετείχε σε πολυάριθμα παγκόσμια ερευνητικά έργα του WSO που αφορούν τους νέους με εγκεφαλικό επεισόδιο, την αποκατάσταση στην οξεία φάση του εγκεφαλικού επεισοδίου και είναι συν-συγγραφέας της ενημερωμένης λίστας ελέγχου για την Δυσφαγία, την Αφασία και την Επικοινωνία του WSO. Η Μαρίνα έχει σταθμίσει εργαλεία για την αξιολόγηση και την αποκατάσταση της αφασίας σε Ελληνόφωνα άτομα μέσω μεθοδολογιών Συμπερίληψης των Ασθενών και του Κοινού (PPI), οι οποίες έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά με κριτές.
