 Η Δρ. Ελένη Α. Κύζα είναι Καθηγήτρια στην Κοινωνία της Πληροφορίας στο τμήμα Επικοινωνίας και Σπουδών Διαδικτύου στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου. Ολοκλήρωσε τις διδακτορικές της σπουδές στο πρόγραμμα Learning Sciences του Northwestern University, με ειδίκευση στη γνωστική επιστήμη. Είναι κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου (Ed.M.) από το πρόγραμμα Τεχνολογία και Εκπαίδευση από το Harvard Graduate School of Education, Πτυχίου στην Εκπαίδευση (B.Sc. in Εducation, summa cum laude) με ειδίκευση στην Εκπαιδευτική Τεχνολογία από το Boston University και Δίπλωμα Δασκάλου από την Παιδαγωγική Ακαδημία Κύπρου. Η μεταδιδακτορική της έρευνα με την Ερευνητική Ομάδα Μάθησης στις Φυσικές και Περιβαλλοντικές Επιστήμες στο Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου χρηματοδοτήθηκε από την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή μέσω ενός IRG Marie Curie Fellowship και του Ιδρύματος Προώθησης Έρευνας της Κύπρου.

Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζουν στο ρόλο των σύγχρονων τεχνολογιών στη μάθηση και διδασκαλία, και το σχεδιασμό και διερεύνηση αλληλεπιδραστικών τεχνολογικών περιβαλλόντων μάθησης. Τα τελευταία χρόνια εργάζεται στην ανάπτυξη και ερευνητική εξέταση της διαδικτυακής πλατφόρμας μάθησης και διδασκαλίας ΣΤΟΧΑΣΜΟΣ (www.stochasmos.org), με στόχο την κατανόηση της συνεισφοράς των τεχνολογικών εργαλείων στην ανάπτυξη του επιστημονικού γραμματισμού των μαθητών και την υποστήριξη της μάθησης με διερώτηση στις φυσικές και περιβαλλοντικές επιστήμες.

Η έρευνά της υποστηρίζεται από ευρωπαϊκά και τοπικά προγράμματα, όπως το ΣΤΟΧΑΣΜΟΣ και το ΣΥΝΕΡΓΑΣΙΑ, τα οποία χρηματοδοτήθηκαν από το Ίδρυμα Προώθησης Έρευνας Κύπρου και την Ευρωπαϊκή Επιτροπή.  Μεταξύ των ετών 2008-2011 η Δρ. Κύζα συντόνισε το ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα FP7 “Digital support for Inquiry, Collaboration, and Reflection on Socio-Scientific Debates” (CoReflect) [Ψηφιακή υποστήριξη για τη διερώτηση, τη συνεργασία και τον αναστοχασμό σε κοινωνικο–επιστημονικές διαλογικές αντιπαραθέσεις], το οποίο ήταν το πρώτο FP7 πρόγραμμα το οποίο απονεμήθηκε στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου.  Η Δρ. Κύζα είναι επιστημονική υπεύθυνος (εταίρος) στο ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα PROFILES (www.cut.ac.cy/profiles, www.profiles-project.eu) το οποίο συντονίζει ο καθηγητής Claus Bolte στο Freie Universitat, Berlin, στη Γερμανία και στο ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα PARRISE το οποίο συντονίζεται από τη Δρ.Marie-Christine Knippels στο πανεπιστήμιο της Ουτρέχτης στην Ολλανδία.  Και τα δύο προγράμματα χρηματοδοτούνται από το πρόγραμμαFP7  Science-in-Society.

Ίδρυσε και συντονίζει το μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα Νέες Τεχνολογίες Μάθησης και Επικοινωνίας στο Τμήμα Επικοινωνίας και Σπουδών Διαδικτύου.  Είναι Αναπληρωτής Επιμελήτρια στο επιστημονικό περιοδικό Instructional Science (http://rd.springer.com/journal/11251) από το 2012.  Ανάμεσα σε άλλα, είναι μέλος των επιστημονικών οργανισμών: International Society of the Learning Sciences -ISLS- (www.isls.org), European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction –EARLI-  (www.earli.org), European Science Education Research Association –ESERA- (www.esera.org) και τον οργανισμό European Association of Technology-Enhanced Learning –EATEL- (ea-tel.eu).  Από το 2013 είναι εκλεγμένη πρόεδρος του οργανισμού International Society of the Learning Sciences (ISLS), με τη θητεία της να αρχίζει επίσημα τον Ιούνιο του 2014.
