Successful Opening of the Exhibition “Art Across the Dynasties”

The opening of the exhibition “Art Across the Dynasties” was held with great success. The exhibition is organized by the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) within the framework of Sino-Cypriot cooperation with Zhejiang University, Hangzhou Dianzi University, and the Confucius Institute at CUT, and took place on 8 December 2025 at the Limassol Municipal University Library.

During the opening, visitors had the opportunity to experience 50 representative works of Chinese painting from the monumental series “A Comprehensive Collection of Ancient Chinese Paintings” (中国历代绘画大系). The exhibition was curated by academic Andreas Savva, Assistant Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at CUT. The works are presented as high-resolution digital prints on specially selected high-quality paper, in dimensions that closely approximate the originals, offering viewers a strong sense of their scale and presence.

A central element of the exhibition experience is the in-depth study of the works and the creation of trilingual explanatory texts (Chinese, Greek, and English) for each of the 50 exhibits. These texts provide clear and accessible information on the subject matter, iconography, as well as the historical and cultural context of the works, making the exhibition particularly accessible both to specialists and to the public.

At the same time, volumes from the series “A Comprehensive Collection of Chinese Ancient Paintings” are displayed in the exhibition area. These volumes have been acquired by the CUT Library and currently number 125. Their presence alongside the exhibits highlights the breadth of the overall approach and underscores the exhibition’s role as part of a broader research and documentation project.

The public response at the opening was highly positive, confirming the strong interest in Chinese visual culture and in initiatives that promote intercultural dialogue.

The exhibition “Art Across the Dynasties” will remain open to the public until 16 January 2026, Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:00.
