Photis M. Panayides is Professor in Shipping and Maritime Economics at the Cyprus University of Technology. Prof. Panayides has 27 years of professional experience and has held appointments or research collaborations at among others, The University of Plymouth, The University of Reading, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the National University of Singapore. Prof. Panayides has authored the books Principles of Chartering and Professional Ship Management and has edited or co-edited four books including Maritime Logistics, Shipping Operations Management and the Handbook of Maritime Management. He has consulted on the development of key performance indicators and performance management in shipping organizations and published several scientific journal papers in esteemed academic journals. Prof. Panayides serves on the editorial board of several academic journals, and has served as Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Ports Authority and as member of the Council of the International Association of Maritime Economists.

Dr. Mihalis Golias Ph.D., IMPE, AMPE is a professor of Supply Chain Network Design at the Cyprus University of Τechnology. He holds a PhD and MSc from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and a MSc/BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He served as the Chair of the Ports and Channels Committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), National Academies of Science from 2015 to 2021 and is currently a member of the Marine Environment Committee of the TRB. His research and teaching interests lie in the areas of Supply Chain and Logistics with a primary focus on Freight and Maritime Transport with a proven publication and citation record. The core of his research develops mathematical and simulation models using cooperative and non-cooperative game theory to predict and optimize the behavior of the various supply chain stakeholders by utilizing market-based mechanisms. He has over 20 years of experience collaborating and partnering with the industry (i.e., FedEx, Ryder, IMC) and non-profit organizations (e.g., IAMPE, ATRI), and has successfully secured funding from government institutions (e.g., FHWA, USDOT, State DOTs) and the industry (i.e., FedEx, Ryder, IMC). Through his research he has developed models and data analytics tools to identify opportunities for investment (capital and operational) that take full advantage of the available network capacity while increasing efficiency, safety, resiliency, and, at the same time, reducing negative externalities from freight movements by supporting the development of co-modal supply chain networks where all modes are utilized in a co-opetitive environment to optimize multiple objectives.

Dr. Thalis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Shipping at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). In the past he was a Senior Researcher at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). He holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (NTUA), and an MSc in Transport (2010) and a PhD in Port Operations (2015) from Imperial College London. He worked as an external expert for the European Commission and as an evaluator of research proposals in the EU Program "Horizon 2020". He has received academic excellence awards and competitive scholarships at all levels of education and academic career. Dr. Olympia Nisiforou is certified in Quantitative Risk Management and Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies from Judge Business School Executive Education, Cambridge, UK. She holds a Bachelor of Science (hons) in Marine Science/Oceanography, a Master of Science (hons) in Learning in Natural Sciences, another Master of Science (hons) in Environmental Pollution Control, and a PhD from the Department of Environmental Science and Technology, specializing in pollution monitoring and control and renewable energy. She received a prestigious scholarship (0311/21 PENEK) from the Research Promotion Foundation for her doctoral dissertation.
Throughout her academic journey, Dr. Nisiforou has been honored with academic excellence awards and competitive scholarships, including notable ones from institutions such as the Bank of Piraeus, Hellenic Bank, and UNESCO (2010/2011 Scholarship UNESCO Fellowships Program for Program Priorities), where she secured the first place globally.
She has extensive professional experience in multidisciplinary technical and research operations, locally and internationally, both as a principal investigator and a contributor covering a diverse array of projects, from fundamental research to applied research. Dr. Dimitra Kalaitzi is an Assistant Professor in Supply Chain Management and Logistics in the Department of Shipping at the School of Management and Economics at the Cyprus University of Technology. Previously, she worked as a lecturer at Aston University and Birmingham City University, and as a postdoctoral researcher at Aston University and the University of Cambridge. Dimitra’s research interests lie within the areas of sustainability, circular economy, emerging technologies, supply chain risk, and resilience. She has been involved in various projects at the University of Cambridge [REMEDIES (RE-configuring MEDIcines End-to-end Supply)] and at Aston University [NEXT-NEXT, UK-centric supply chains, ReSChape (Reshaping Supply Chains for Positive Social Impact)]. Her research has been published in well-known journals in the field of operations and supply chain management.

Christoforos Andreou is a Lecturer in Shipping Finance in the Department of Shipping within the Faculty of Management and Economics at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). Prior to joining CUT, he was an Assistant Professor in Finance at the University of Southampton. His research interests lie in the areas of asset pricing, corporate finance, and shipping finance. He has published in reputable international journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, European Financial Management, and British Accounting Review. He has also worked as an investment analyst and consultant for various international financial firms.

Stelios Alexandrou holds the position of Special Teaching Staff at the Cyprus University of Technology. Stelios has been awarded with a PhD in Shipping Management, and specifically on Green Supply Chain Management of shipping firms from the Cyprus University of Technology. Nicholas Asimenos is a Special Scientist in the Department of Commerce, Finance and Shipping at CUT and holds the position of Business Development and Operations Manager at Uniteam Marine Limited. Previously, he was a part of the Faculty at the Department of Maritime Studies, School of Business and Law at Frederick University as an Assistant Professor (2002-2005). Mr. Nicholas Asimenos entered the shipping industry in 1999 and worked for several well-established shipowners and ship management companies both in Cyprus and Germany. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and has also worked as a trustee at the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers Cyprus. Mr. Nicholas Asimenos holds a PhD from the School of Business at Middlesex University, London.

Andreas Kouspos holds a PhD in Shipping Finance from the Department of Commerce, Finance and Shipping at Cyprus University of Technology. Also, he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. His research interests lie in the area of risk and return of global shipping activities. Before coming to CUT, Andreas graduated from University of Plymouth with the degree of MSc International Shipping. He also holds the degree of BSc Accounting and Finance from University of Essex. Being focused on his professional development, he is also studying for the professional qualification of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Beyond studies, he has worked in the shipping industry for more than a year. He has won the BDO LLP award for achieving the highest marks in Shipping Finance examinations of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers on May 2022. Andreas has also won the 1st prize in Let’s Talk Simple Science Competition that was taken place in April 2016 at CUT with his presentation topic “Credit risk analysis of shipping loans”.
