Nicolas Tsapatsoulis holds a Ph.D degree, in Image Analysis and Synthesis, from the School of Electrical and Computer Eng. of the National Technical University of Athens (2000). He joined the Department of Communication and internet Studies in January 2008 where he is now a full Professor. His research interests include multimedia information retrieval, web data mining, recommender systems, collective intelligence and affective computing. He has published more than 160 papers in international journals, book chapters and proceedings of international conferences. His research has been recognised by the international research community through more than 4000 independent citations.

 He served as a general chair for the SMAP 2019, IEEE CyberSciTech 2018, Sound and Music Computing 2018, and SMAP 2010 conferences and he is a member of the advisory committee of IEEE CyberSciTech and the steering committee of SMAP.


 

Research

Anna K. Zarkada is an Associate Professor of Integrated Marketing Communication specializing in Services. She has a BSc (1st Class Honors) in Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in International Marketing from the University of Manchester, UK, and a PhD in Services Science from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

 She has taught in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of leading universities in Greece (Athens University of Economics and Business, Harokopion University, University of West Attica, Hellenic Open University), the United Kingdom (Manchester, Teesside, Salford, Cumbria, York St John, Open University), Australia (Queensland University of Technology, Griffith University), India (Amity University), Russia (Higher School of Economics), and Japan (The Foreign Service Training Institute), using both traditional and distance learning.

 Her research has been presented in over 100 publications in academic journals and international scientific conferences. Her work has received distinguished international recognitions such as the Emerald Literati Network Outstanding Author and Best Paper awards and best conference presentation prizes.

 She is an active consultant and trainer in in-company and executive education programs for Greek and multinational companies, government agencies, and non-profit organizations on issues of corporate culture, marketing and communication, and sustainable development. She is also involved in the promotion of Music and Arts Education.

Dr. Vasiliki Triga holds a PhD in Social and Political Sciences from the European University Institute in Florence. From 2007 until 2011 she worked as a senior researcher at the Centre for Research on Direct Democracy (c2d) at the University of Zurich. She has been teaching as a temporary lecturer at the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich (ETHz). Before, she has been a visiting fellow at the Laboratoire d’anthropologie des institutions et des organisations sociales (LAIOS) at the CNRS (Paris) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Faculty of Psychology). Since 2021, she has been appointed as an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Public Communication at the Cyprus University of Technology. Her research interests lie in the field of ICT/internet based political processes like Voting Advice Applications, Southern Politics and the Economic Crisis, Political Communication and European Referendums. She has published her research in various journals such as IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Southern European Society and Politics, Public Management Review, JCMS etc. She is co-author of the book Referendums and the European Union: A Comparative Inquiry, published by Cambridge University Press in 2014. She is the Founder of the DigiPols Research Lab (https://digipols.cut.ac.cy/ ).

Dr Andreas Gregoriades is an Associate Professor of Electronic Commerce and Information Systems. He earned his PhD in Computation from UMIST (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, now University of Manchester) in Business Process Simulation. He has an MPhil in Software Change Impact Analysis from UMIST and BSc degree in Computation from UMIST. Prior to joining CUT, he was an Associate Professor of Information Systems in the Department of Computer Science at the European University Cyprus, Lecturer of Management Information Systems at the University of Surrey (UK) and Visiting Lecturer in Systems Integration at UMIST(UK). Prior to that he was Postdoctoral Research Associate at UMIST, Research Fellow at the University of Surrey (Defense Technology Centre) and Research Fellow at the University of Cyprus (Computer Science Department) in the areas of: smart decision support systems, complex sociotechnical systems design and intelligent transportation systems. His research interests span the areas of: machine learning/AI, requirements engineering and human factors with applications in decision support, consumer analytics, traffic safety and business change.

Dr. Yioula Melanthiou is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Cyprus University of Technology. Her research interests focus on Augmented Reality (AR), Social Media Marketing, and Consumer Behaviour, fields in which she has numerous publications and presentations. Dr. Melanthiou brings over two decades of academic experience, having held leadership roles including Head of the Marketing Department and Director of Doctoral Studies at the University of Nicosia, where she worked for 18 years. Prior to her academic career, she served as Research Director and Marketing Consultant for a multinational company. She is deeply committed to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and doctoral students, and has actively participated in many European funded research programs.

Dr Christos Themistocleous completed his studies (BSc, MSc, PhD) at the University of Nottingham where he worked as a postdoctoral fellow. Prior to joining TEPAK, he worked as Lecturer of Consumer Behavior at the University of Reading - Henley Business School. He is currently Lecturer of Integrated Marketing Communications with research interests in consumer psychology and behavior in matters relating to consumer privacy with applied quantitative research methods and, more recently, consumer behavior in tourism.

Erasmia Leonidou is a Lecturer at the Department of Communication and Marketing. She holds a DBA in Intercultural Communication from the University of Gloucestershire, and a BA in History and Archaeology from the University of Cyprus. Her research interests include Corporate Social Responsibility, the interface between Human Resource Management and Marketing, Internal Marketing, Systematic Literature Review and Intercultural Communication. Christiana Tsaousi holds a PhD in the sociology of consumption from the University of Leicester. Her academic career includes positions as Lecturer in Marketing at Bournemouth University and the University of Leicester, as well as positions as Assistant Professor in Marketing at Coventry University and Royal Holloway, University of London.

 Since 2024, she has been a Lecturer in Consumer Culture at the Cyprus University of Technology, where she teaches, among other subjects, Consumer Behaviour and Culture, Basic Principles of Advertising, and Fine Arts and Communication. She also holds the position of Academic Support Coordinator in the Learning Network of the Cyprus University of Technology, where she contributes to the design and implementation of initiatives to enhance students' academic experience and promote innovative pedagogical approaches. Finally, she is the Coordinator of the postgraduate program in Experiential and Digital Marketing Communications.

 

Research Interests

Her research interests focus on consumer culture and how it influences the construction of individual identity. She draws from interdisciplinary fields and focuses on the intersections between culture, fashion, media, sexuality, identity, and gender with consumer behaviour. Her research approach combines methodologies from cultural studies, sociology of consumption, and critical theory.

Additionally, she examines the manifestations of fourth-wave feminism in contemporary media culture, analysing how feminist discourses are reproduced, transformed, and incorporated into various forms of media representations and consumer practices.

Principal investigator (August 2017 – August 2019) for a contracted research project with title: "Wellbeing in the Accounting Profession". Responsible for the following five-member research team (University of Leicester): Dr George Kokkinidis, Dr Kenneth Weir, Dr Urlike Marx, Mr Mark Burridge and Dr Kontantin Stoborod. This project was funded for 18 months with £106,235 by the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association (CABA) to investigate the willingness and non-willingness of members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) to use wellbeing services provided by CABA.

Giorgos Venizelos is Lecturer in Political Communication. His research integrates comparative politics, contemporary political theory and political communication, exploring populism, anti-populism, polarization, political identities and political discourse.

 He is the author of Populism in Power: Discourse and Performativity in SYRIZA and Donald Trump (Routledge, 2023), and has published in journals such as Communication Review, Critical Sociology, Political Studies, Constellations, and Representation.

 Before joining the Department of Communication and Marketing at the Cyprus University of Technology in 2025, he was Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellow (CO-FUND) at the University of Cyprus, Fellow in Political Polarization at CEU’s Democracy Institute, postdoctoral researcher at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and adjunct lecturer at the University of Cyprus.

 He holds a PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence, Italy, an MA in International Studies from the Department of Politics at Goldsmiths College, University of London (2015) and a BA from the Department of Government at the University of Essex (2014).

 He co-convenes the Populism Specialist Group (Political Studies Association, UK).

Dr. Maria Voutsa is currently a Special Teaching Staff member in the Department of Communication and Marketing at the Cyprus University of Technology. She holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics, an M.Sc. in Informatics and Management, and a Ph.D. in Advertising and Consumer Behavior (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece). Her research interests lie in Advertising, Consumer Behavior, and Social Media Marketing, with a particular focus on the social impact of advertising, measuring advertising effectiveness, and integrated marketing communication in digital environments.

 Dr. Voutsa also coordinates the Advertising Education & Research (AD.CUT) student team, which bridges academic research with industry practice. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Consumer Behavior, the Journal of Marketing Communications, and the International Journal of Internet Marketing and Advertising, among others. She also serves as a reviewer for international journals such as the International Journal of Advertising and the Journal of Consumer Behaviour, as well as various international conferences.

Nikandros Ioannidis holds an international PhD in Political and Social Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University, a master's degree in Democracy and Comparative Politics from University College London (UCL), and a bachelor's degree in Communication and Internet Studies from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). His research focuses on political communication, representation, and the intersection of information technology and politics. He graduated with honours from UCL and was also the valedictorian of the CUT graduation ceremony in 2019. In recognition of his excellent academic performance, he was awarded by the President of the Republic of Cyprus and received a scholarship for excellence from the Catalan government during his PhD studies. He has published peer-reviewed articles in reputable journals such as Government and Opposition, Political Geography, Party Politics, South European Society and Politics, and The Communication Review.
